Leverone Breaks Program Career RBI Mark

STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph's sophomore outfielder Emily Leverone (Hampton, NH/Winnacunnet) broke the program single-season record for runs batted in during the GNAC Tournament.

The sophomore slugger topped the former mark held by Sue Picard '02, who drove home 56 runs in 2002, with a two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning against Simmons College in a GNAC tourney elimination game on Saturday. The second-seeded Monks went on to rout the Sharks, 11-3, and advanced to the final day of the playoffs where they fell to #3 Emerson College, 5-4, in a season-ending loss.

Leverone closed out her sophomore campaign with 60 RBI and is dangerously close to the Monks' career total with 110 in just two seasons at St. Joe's. Lisa Pichaske '98 holds the SJC career mark with 132 RBI in four seasons.

Leverone now owns six SJC single-season records and four career marks in two years at Saint Joseph's. She ranks as the single-season record-holder in hits (75), doubles (17), RBI (60), batting average (.547), slugging % (.920), on-base % (.581) and OPS (1.501). She holds the career records for home runs (16), batting average (.500, 133-266), slugging (.850), on-base % (.526) and OPS (1.376).

St. Joe's capped the 2010 season with a 30-10 overall record and played to a 21-3 tilt in GNAC play en route to earning the #2 seed in the conference playoffs.
