Leverone Earns NEISCA Second Team Honor

STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph's College outfielder Emily Leverone '12 (Hampton, NH/Winnacunnet) has received New England Intercollegiate Softball Coaches Association (NEISCA) Second Team honors.

Leverone, a 2010 All-GNAC First Team selection, hit .450 (58-129) with 40 runs, 14 doubles, eight home runs and an SJC single-season record 60 runs batted in for the Monks, who went 30-10 overall and posted a program-record 23-game winning streak this spring. The sophomore slugger paced the Royal Blue in batting average, hits, runs, doubles, slugging percentage (.775) and on-base percentage (.472) and helped the Monks post a 21-3 GNAC record, which was good for the #2 seed in the conference tournament. She also led the team in multiple-hit (15) and multi-RBI (17) performances this spring.

In two tremendous offensive seasons, Leverone already owns 11 programs records, including the career marks for home runs (16), slugging percentage (.850) and on-base percentage (.535).

Leverone is no stranger to postseason accolades, as she collected NFCA All-Northeast Region Second Team and ECAC Second Team honors following the 2009 campaign. She joins Monica White, Taylor Cournoyer and Katie Bachinski of Rivier and Christina Naramore of Emerson as one of five GNAC players to receive the regional honor.
