SJC Club Track & Field Team Participates in USM Meet

GORHAM, ME – The Saint Joseph’s track and field club team participated in a meet at University of Southern Maine on Saturday afternoon.

Amber Dostie ’15 (Standish, Maine) notched the club program’s first-ever victory with a 5:35.73 effort in the 1 mile run. Her time was nearly five seconds faster than that of runner-up Olivia Marshall of Westfield State University.

Not to be one-upped by her twin sister, Peyton Dostie ’15 (Standish, Maine) won the 400 meter dash with a 1:01.61 time, just over a second faster than runner-up Marie Gulino of Westfield State.

Jack LaFreniere ’13 (Alton, N.H.) edged out Bowdoin’s Justin Dury-Agri to earn a win in the 600 meter run, as the junior three-sport athlete posted a 1:25.34 performance – a time that was a little over four-tenths of a second faster than the #2 finisher.

Also competing for the women was Doe Leckie ’15 (Naples, Maine), who placed third in the 55 meter dash (8.03).

For the men, Jose Ossers ’15 (Bradford, Mass.) ran the 55 meter dash (7.60, 13th) and 200 meter dash (27.27, 22nd), Matt Boucher ’15 (Augusta, Maine) (2:14.0, 6th), Evan Wright ’15 (New Preston, Conn.) (2:17.0, 8th) and Josh Herbein ’13 (York, Maine) (2:20.0, 9th) all competed in the 800 meter, and Tyler Shennett ’13 (Auburn, Maine) ran the 200 meter dash (29.02, 23rd) Calvin Servaes ’14 (Hull, Mass.) finished fourth in the high jump with a 5-09.25 performance.

Leckie, Amber Dostie, Laura Dimillo ’13 (Portland, Maine), and Peyton Dostie combined to post a 4:28.83 time in the 4x400 relay and placed third in the event.

The SJC men’s 4x400 relay team of Herbein, Faisal Abdillahi ’14 (Lewiston, Maine), Ali Hersi ’15 (Lewiston, Maine) and LaFreniere placed fourth with a 3:38.63 effort.
