Saint Joseph's Women Cap Season at USCSA Eastern Regionals

CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College women's alpine ski team finished eighth with a 5:42.24 total time in the USCSA Eastern Regional Slalom Championship at Sugarloaf Mountain on Sunday.

The Monks, who posted an eighth-place finish in yesterday's slalom title race – capped the regionals weekend with 16 total team points and tied for eighth among the 16 competing programs in the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships. Unfortunately, only six teams advance to the USCSA National Championships, an event the Monks have competed in each of the last two seasons.

Vermont State University – Castleton claimed the regional SL title with a 4:50.53 time while Babson College finished second (4:58.89), University of Connecticut placed third (5:17.84), UMass.-Amherst was fourth (5:18.07), and UMaine-Farmington finished fifth (5:29.97).

Castleton swept the podium with Emilie Stene (1:36.20), Ginevra Trevisan (1:36.74), and Petra Veljkovic (1:37.59) taking first, second, and third, respectively.

FOR THE MONKS:

  • Senior Courtney Pingree (Marblehead, Mass.) placed 19th with a 1:47.90 (51.00, 56.90) time
  • Senior Erica Irvin (Windham, N.H.) finished 30th (1:54.45, 54.23 / 1:00.22)
  • Senior Maeghan Perkins (Turner, Maine) was 34th (1:59.89, 53.86 / 1:06.03)
  • Sophomore Sienna Mack (Lincoln, N.H.) placed 42nd (2:19.03, 55.81 / 1:23.22)
  • Junior Maddie Zordan (New Hartford, Conn.) also raced but DQ'ed
