STANDISH, ME – The 2014 Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) postseason awards have been released and a pair of Saint Joseph's College standouts have earned honors.

Senior forward Abby Young (North Yarmouth, Maine), a MWBCA Second Team honoree, has collected All-State accolades for the first time while sophomore center Morgan Cahill (Yarmouth, Maine), the 2013 MWBCA Co-Rookie of the Year, has claimed Second Team honors for the second time in as many seasons.

Young, who also collected Second Team All-Conference honors for her play this season, averaged 15.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game as a senior and established career-highs in field goals made (166), three-pointers made (18), free throws made (90), free throw percentage (79.6%), assists (41) and total points (440) as a senior.

The four-year contributor became the 21st member of the Monks' 1,000-Point Club during the 2013-14 campaign and earned GNAC Tournament Most Valuable Player honors after averaging 20.3 points and 12.3 rebounds in three GNAC Tournament victories. She was a pivotal player down the stretch for the Monks, who achieved a pair of program-firsts in claiming the GNAC Championship (first in seven years as a member of the conference) and subsequent NCAA Tournament berth this winter.

Cahill enjoyed another fantastic season as a sophomore, leading the Monks in scoring (15.3 PPG), rebounding (8.0 RPG) and blocked shots (59) for the second-consecutive season. Also a 2014 Second Team All-Conference choice, the sophomore post player led all Maine NCAA DIII players with nine double-doubles and ranked second in the State in field goal percentage (48.2%) and blocks per game (2.03).

Cahill is just the fifth player in program history to lead the team in scoring and rebounding in back to back seasons, as she joins Carla Taliento '85 (1984-85), Kendra Coates '91 (1990-91), Sharon Rines '94 (1993-94) and Ashley Geel '12 (2011-12) on the short list.

Saint Joseph's College went 23-6 overall and 10-1 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play en route to earning the #2 seed in the conference tournament. The Monks defeated #7 Lasell College in the quarterfinals, #3 Rivier University in the semis and #8 Norwich University in the GNAC Championship before falling to #4 Tufts University in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on March 6th.
