Caiazzo Chosen as GNAC Player of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been announced and Saint Joseph's College sophomore Elyse Caiazzo (Scarborough, Maine/Cheverus) has been selected as the GNAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Caiazzo scored 11 goals with an assist in a pair of victories last week. She netted five consecutive goals to start the game in a 13-8 win over Southern Maine on Wednesday and tallied six goals with an assist, four ground balls, and three caused turnovers in a lopsided win over Thomas on Saturday.

The sophomore standout currently leads the conference in goals (22), points (26), shots on goal (37), and ground balls (24) through five contests. Caiazzo, the 2015 GNAC Rookie of the Year and First Team All-Conference honoree, has now claimed GNAC Player of the Week honors twice in the first three reporting periods of the 2016 campaign.

Saint Joseph's (4-1) will host Regis College Wednesday in a non-conference matchup slated to start at 6:00 PM at Deering Memorial Stadium in Portland.
