STANDISH, Maine – Junior Mackenzie Siebert (Naples, Maine) scored eight goals, including the 100th of her career, to help propel Saint Joseph's College (12-4, 8-2 GNAC) past Norwich University (8-5, 6-4 GNAC) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) North Division women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon.

SENIOR MOMENT:

Prior to the start of the contest the SJC women's lacrosse team held a brief ceremony to honor the program's seven seniors: Carson Battaglia (Gorham, Maine), Bridget Collins (Milford, Conn.), Riley Kiernan (Waltham, Mass.), Caitlin O'Keefe (Whitman, Mass.), Heather Rohr (Merrimack, N.H.), and Madison Scott (Cumberland, Maine). The team's Class of 2024 has helped the Monks record a 54-11 (.831) overall record, including a remarkable 35-4 (.897) mark in conference play, with a GNAC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2022.

MILESTONE MET:

With her eighth goal of the game scored with 22 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Siebert became the 11th player – a group that includes teammates Bridget Collins and Carson Battaglia - in program history to reach the century mark for their career. She reached the milestone in just 46 games over three seasons and has netted 50 goals with 30 assists for 80 total points in 16 contests this spring.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

O'Keefe kicked off the scoring 3:08 into the contest and the Monks held a 4-1 advantage late in the second stanza before Ellie Moriarty (Stowe, Vt.) and Leocadia Clark (Stowe, Vt.) made it a one-goal game with strikes at the 2:05 and 1:09 marks, respectively, of the quarter. Siebert closed out the first half with an unassisted tally and potted three-consecutive goals in the first four minutes of the penultimate period to give her team an 8-3 cushion.

Collins proceeded to hit pay dirt twice in a matter of three minutes, giving the Monks a 10-3 lead with 5:32 left in the third quarter. Sophomore Athena Merck (West Yarmouth, Mass.) scored off a Julia Gutke (Stockholm, Sweden) pass with one second left in the quarter to make it a 10-4 game, but the hosts hit pay dirt four times in the first 10 minutes of the final frame to lift the Monks to a 14-4 advantage.

Saint Joseph's held the lead in shots (31-17), shots on goal (24-14), draw controls (15-6), and caused turnovers (11-6) while Norwich held the advantage in ground balls (30-25) on the afternoon.
