STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College senior midfielder Elyse Caiazzo (Scarborough, Maine/Cheverus) became the first women's lacrosse player to reach the 300-point plateau when she scored four goals in a 20-10 victory over Norwich University at the SJC Athletics Complex on April 7th.

Needing three points to hit the mark, Caiazzo hit the milestone with a free-position goal with 16:34 remaining in the second half against the Cadets. Her tally, scored on junior keeper Janice Bolton (Stow, Mass.), lifted the Monks to a 15-8 lead.

The four-year standout is just the fifth Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's lacrosse player to surpass the 300-point mark and joins Lasell's Britney Wuorio '14 (416) and Ashley Slattery '12 (356), former Johnson & Wales star Lydia Knapp '17 (329), and Emmanuel's Kristen Tuleja '16 (302) in the exclusive group.

In 70 career games, Caiazzo has netted 259 goals with 56 assists for 315 total points and has recorded 238 ground balls, 239 draw controls, and 83 caused turnovers. She ranks as the Monks' all-time leader in goals, points, shots on goal (390), shot % (57.3%), man-up goals (18), and free-position goals (48). She is also second in team history in shots (452) and free-position shots (87), third in ground balls and draw controls, and sixth in caused turnovers.

One of the most decorated athletes in the history of SJC Athletics, Caiazzo – who also played field hockey for three years at St. Joe's – has garnered 41 individual accolades during her career, including 2015 GNAC Rookie of the Year, 2017 GNAC Offensive Player of the Year, and five (three lacrosse, two field hockey) First Team All-GNAC honors combined.
