STANDISH, ME - Liz Brunton scored two goals to give visiting
Southern Maine a 2-1 victory over Saint Joseph's College. The
Huskies improve to 8-2 on the season while St. Joe's stands at
5-4.
Brunton gave Southern Maine the lead as she headed a cross from Eva
Hanson into the left corner of the goal at 14:25. The Huskies went
up 2-0 as Brunton's shot at 19:35 got by St. Joe's keeper,
first-year Lindsay King (East Bridgewater, MA).
King had seven saves in the match.
First year Megan Willette (Waterville, ME) notched
her 12th goal of the season on a penalty kick at 84:00 to make it
2-1 but the Huskies had a 10-3 shot advantage in the second half
and held St. Joe's scoreless for the remainder of the match.
St. Joe's travels to Vermont for a 2:00 PM game at Green Mountain
College on Saturday, October 8th and a 1:00 PM game at the College
of St. Joseph (VT) on Sunday, October 9th.
