Lasers Shoot Past Monks, 2-0

STANDISH, Maine – Lasell University (2-2-0, 1-1-0 GNAC) netted a pair of second half goals to defeat Saint Joseph's College (1-3-0, 1-1-0 GNAC), 2-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer action at the SJC Athletics Complex on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The game was scoreless until the 65th minute when junior Emily DeHart (Farmington, Conn.) netted an unassisted tally. The Lasers doubled their lead nearly 10 minutes later when Michelina D'Agnostino (Longmeadow, Mass.) hit pay dirt off an Alex Delaney (Hebron, Conn.) pass.

TEAM STATS:

Lasell held the lead in shots (17-7), shots on goal (11-4), and corner kicks (9-0) in the conference win.

THE KEEPERS:

SJC senior starter Carly Downey (Yarmouth, Maine) made eight saves for the Monks while Lasell freshman netminder Lataya Simmons (Cape Coral, Fla.) turned away three shots in a shutout performance.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

With the loss, Saint Joseph's falls to 6-15-2 all-time versus Lasell University and has now dropped five consecutive games at the hands of the Lasers.

Saint Joseph's will host Anna Maria College on Tuesday in a GNAC matchup slated to start at 6:00 PM.
