Newton, MA -Saint Joseph's College (14-1-1, 10-1-1 GNAC)
defeated Great Northeast Athletic Conference opponent Lasell
College (9-5, 7-4 GNAC) 2-1 in Women's Soccer action on Wednesday
afternoon.
The Monks struck first when FY Whitney Linindoll
(Paris, ME) notched her sixth goal of the season in the 24th
minute. The Lasers answered 20 minutes later when Allison Bushley
(Westminster, MA) scored to tie the game. The goal ended SO GK
Katye Mayo's (Fairfield, ME) amazing streak of 333
minutes of play without allowing a goal, dating back to October
6th. Although the "streak" ended, Mayo played an
excellent game as she helped keep the surging Lasers off the board
in the second half and made 8 saves overall.
The match remained tied until the 82nd minute when FY
Elizabeth Theberge (Danvers, MA) found the back of
the net on a free kick from 25 yards out. The goal was Theberge's
4th of the season.
Saint Joseph's College hosts GNAC foe Pine Manor College on
Saturday, 10/20. Game time is 3:00 PM.
