Boston, MA - Three second half goals made the
difference as Saint Joseph's College defeated Simmons College 3-0
for their eighth consecutive win of the season. The Monks improve
to 8-0, 4-0 GNAC while Simmons stands at 3-5-1, 2-1-0 GNAC.
St. Joe's held an 8-7 advantage in shots in the opening stanza but
the match was scoreless until the fifty-fourth minute. FY
Elizabeth Theberge (Danvers, MA) netted the game
winner at 53:18 off a free kick from 30 yards out. The Monks
dominated with ten second half shots to the Sharks' four shots.
SO Anna Willis (Gorham, MA) connected on a cross
from FY Mikayla Call (Portland, ME) to put the
Monks up 2-0 at 77:12. FY Whitney Linindoll
(Paris, ME) scored off a long diagonal cross from Theberge in the
eighty-third minute to secure the SJC victory.
SO keeper Katye Mayo (Fairfield, ME) recorded
three saves for the Monks in her second shut-out of the week.
