Mayo Named GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week

STANDISH, ME - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference has announced their honors for the week ending October 26th and Lady Monks junior Katye Mayo (Fairfield, ME/Lawrence HS) is the GNAC Women's Soccer Goalie of the Week.

Mayo notched a pair of shutouts in a 3-0 week for Saint Joseph's, giving her eight on the season. She made six saves in a key 1-0 overtime victory over GNAC foe Saint Joseph (CT) on October 25th.

The junior goaltender saw her streak of 487 minutes played without allowing a goal snapped when Natalie Stever '11 (Chagrin Falls, OH) from Simmons College scored in the 80th minute of a 4-1 SJC victory on October 26th. The last goal allowed by Mayo came in a 3-3 tie with Johnson & Wales University on October 11th.

For the season, Mayo is 12-4-1 with a 1.40 goals against average and a .753 save percentage. The goalie of the week honor is her first this fall after garnering the honor three times in 2007.

Saint Joseph's (12-4-1, 9-2-1 GNAC) will travel to Gorham, ME on Wednesday to play Southern Maine at 3:00 PM. The Lady Monks have secured the #2 seed in the GNAC playoffs and will host a conference quarterfinal match, opponent TBD, on Sunday, November 2nd at 1:00 PM. St. Joe's has a two-year record of 20-3-2 in GNAC play under fifth-year Head Coach Michael Bolanz ‘00.
