STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's (7-4-1, 6-2-1 GNAC) defeated GNAC rival Albertus Magnus College (CT) (4-8-1, 2-6-2) 2-0 on Monday afternoon at Westerlea Way Field. Whitney Linindoll '11 (Paris, ME) and Katie Jordan '09 (Sandwich, ME) registered the SJC goals and Katye Mayo '10 (Fairfield, ME) made two stops in net to record her fourth shutout of the year.

The Lady Monks posted many quality scoring chances and outshot the Falcons by a 19-4 margin. Anna Willis '10 (Gorham, ME) just missed a point-blank shot 27:34 into the match, but the shot, intended for the top right corner, sailed high.

AMC keeper Christina Oddo '11 (East Haven, CT) made a diving stop on a Jessica Needham '11 (E. Bridgewater, MA) shot from 10 yards out, but Linindoll was there for the rebound and kicked the ball into the open net to notch her second goal of the season with 26:44 left in the opening half. St. Joe's led 1-0 going into the intermission.

Mikayla Call '11 (Portland, ME) was denied by Oddo on a header attempt at the 59:05 mark of the second half, but the AMC keeper had no answer for Katie Jordan when she steered a Stephanie Masters '12 (South Portland, ME) crossing pass into the net for her sixth marker of the season.

The Lady Monks went on to record six shots in the remaining 23 minutes, including a booming kick by Call from 15 yards out that clanked off the crossbar.

Oddo made seven saves in net for the Falcons and Brittany Collard '09 (North Haven, CT) registered two shots in the losing effort.

Mayo now has 11 career shutouts and is tied with Carrie Fontaine (1999-00) for the third-most in SJC women's soccer history.

Katie Jordan recorded four shots while Call, Linindoll and Needham all had three shots in the triumph.

Saint Joseph's will host University of Maine at Farmington on Thursday, October 16th at 3:30 PM. Albertus Magnus will play at Emmanuel College at 7:00 PM on Thursday.
