Jordan Selected to Play in NEWISA Senior Bowl

STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's senior Katie Jordan (Sandwich, MA) has been selected to play in the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association Senior Bowl. The game, which features the top senior women's soccer players from the region, will be played at Salem State College on December 11th at 11:00 AM.

In conjunction with the annual soccer match, the NEWISA and Salem State Student Athletic Advisory Committee will be collecting donations of canned goods and other non-perishable items to be given to a local shelter to help feed families during this holiday season.

Jordan was selected along with 20 other Division III women's soccer players in New England. She was chosen as one of the five midfielders to play in the game. The players are voted to the team by New England Division III coaches. Jordan is the only GNAC player, and lone Maine college representative, chosen to play in the prestigious contest.

Katie Jordan, a two-year captain, capped her four-year career with an impressive senior campaign. She tallied five game-winning goals to lead the Lady Monks and ranked second on the team with 10 goals and 26 points. For her efforts, she was named to the 2008 GNAC All-Conference Second Team following the season.

For Jordan, the conference honor was her second and fourth postseason honor overall, as she was named to the NCAA Division III All-Independent Team after both her freshman and sophomore seasons. Jordan completed her impressive four-year career with 32 goals and 76 points, which rank as the sixth and seventh highest totals, respectively, in program history.

"Katie really deserves this honor," adds Head Coach Michael Bolanz '00. "She has had a tremendous four years here and has made a substantial impact into our program, she will be hard to replace on and off the field and we are going to miss her."

Saint Joseph's finished the 2008 season with an overall record of 13-5-1 and played to a 9-2-1 tilt in GNAC play. The Royal Blue earned the #2 seed in the league playoffs for the second consecutive season.
