NASHUA, NH - Katye
Mayo '10 (Fairfield, ME) made six saves and posted
her fourth consecutive shutout to help Saint Joseph's (10-4-1,
7-2-1 GNAC) defeat Rivier College (3-11, 1-9), 2-0, on Tuesday
evening. Mikayla Call '11
(Portland, ME/McAuley) and Jessica
Needham '11 (E. Bridgewater, MA) each scored a
goal in the conference win.
Needham opened the scoring with her seventh goal of the season in
the 26th minute off a pass from Katie
Jordan ‘09 (Sandwich, MA). The score stood
at 1-0 for the remainder of the first half.
Call increased the SJC lead to 2-0 with her
team-leading 13th goal of the year, an unassisted marker at the
58:20 mark.
The shutout effort by Mayo was her seventh of the
season. The junior netminder has not allowed a goal in over 310
minutes of play.
Rivier goalkeeper Brittany Puleo (Hudson, NH) finished the game
with 9 saves in a losing effort.
Rivier College will play its last home game this Saturday, October
25, against Simmons College at 3:00 pm.
St. Joseph's, currently in fourth in the conference, will travel to
West Hartford, CT this Saturday to take on second-place St. Joseph
College (13-2-2, 8-1-2 GNAC) at 1:00 PM.
