WEST HARTFORD, CT - Elizabeth Theberge '11 (Danvers, MA) scored the game-winning goal on a corner kick with 2:53 remaining in the first overtime to lift St. Joe's (11-4-1, 8-2-1 GNAC) past Saint Joseph (CT) (13-3-2, 8-2-2), 1-0, on a blustery Saturday afternoon. SJC goalkeeper Katye Mayo '10 (Fairfield, ME) made six saves to post her eighth shutout of the season and has not allowed a goal in her last 408 minutes of play.

The very evenly matched teams played a competitive game throughout with the Monks (11-4-1, 8-2-1) holding a slight advantage over the Blue Jays (13-4-2, 8-2-2) in shots, 9-6, throughout the contest.

Each half saw the Lady Monks outshoot their hosts 4-3 while the Blue Jays held a decisive advantage in corner kicks, 8-4. The lone goal of the contest was scored as the Royal Blue took advantage of a botched goal kick. The visitors set up the corner and Theberge scored the contest's only goal in the 97th minute of play.

Jessica Needham '11 (E. Bridgewater, MA) led the Lady Monks with three shots on goal in the victory.

Blue Jays junior netminder Cait Witham (Prospect, Conn.) stopped seven shots in the loss.

Saint Joseph's will host Simmons College on Sunday at 3:00 PM in the team's conference finale. With the loss, the Blue Jays, currently sitting in second place in the league standings, see their regular season end with a school-record 13 wins and will await their GNAC Tournament fate to be determined this week.
