NEW HAVEN, CT – Albertus Magnus College (5-1, 3-0 GNAC) defeated Saint Joseph's College (2-2-1, 1-1-1 GNAC), 3-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.

Danielle Figueroa (Bridgeport, Conn.) scored two goals to lift the Falcons' side to its fourth consecutive victory and the first win over the Monks in six tries dating back to the 2007 campaign.

The Falcons' Shelley Mirmina (Milford, Conn.) scored the eventual game-winner in the 41st minute as she drilled a shot in the back of the net from 30-yards out. Figueroa scored her second goal of the year in the 43rd minute when she chipped her shot over the reaching hands of Monks netminder Jaci Lorenzen '14 (Windham, Maine).

Albertus extended its lead to 3-0 as Figueroa tallied her third goal of the season and second of the game in the 85th minute of the contest. Sarah DiCenzo and Figueroa performed a give-and-go play in the box and tallied another score for the Falcons.

Christina Dineson earned the shutout victory to improve to 3-0 in net for the Falcons. Dineson made three saves in 90 minutes of work. Lorenzen had seven saves but allowed all three Falcon goals.

The Falcons outshot the Monks by a commanding 20-5 clip and held the Monks without a shot in the first half.

Both sides will face conference foes on the road on Wednesday when St. Joe's plays Emerson College at 5:30 PM and Albertus takes on Simmons College at 7:00 PM.
