BOSTON, MA – Saint Joseph's (2-2-2, 1-1-2 GNAC) and Emerson College (2-3-1, 2-1-1 GNAC) dueled to a scoreless tie in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer match on Wednesday evening. Monks goalkeeper Jaci Lorenzen '14 (Windham, Maine) recorded seven saves in the stalemate.

St. Joe's held advantages in shots (14-12) and corner kicks (5-2) but was unable to convert the opportunities as Emerson keeper Alexandra Altman '15 (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) turned away all four shots on goal.

Freshmen Danielle Daigle (Dayton, Maine) and Catherine Murch (West Baldwin, Maine) recorded four shots apiece against the Lyons.

The Monks have now gone 200 minutes without scoring after breaking out with six goals in a victory over Suffolk University on September 14th.

The scoreless tie is just the 11th in SJC women's soccer history and the first since Saint Joseph's and Norwich University played to a 0-0 deadlock on October 17th, 2009. The goose-egg game is the third against a GNAC opponent and St. Joe's has never before had two ties in the first six games of a season.

Saint Joseph's is now 4-0-2 in the history of the series with Emerson. The teams have not played to a tie since the Lions defeated the Monks by way of penalty kicks in a GNAC Tournament quarterfinal match on October 30th, 2007. At the time the result counted as a tie in the NCAA books, but the rule has since changed.

Both teams resume play against conference foes on Saturday when St. Joe's hosts Pine Manor College at 12:00 PM and Emerson travels to Norwich for a 1:00 PM kickoff.
