FARMINGTON, Maine -- University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer (1-3) used five second-half goals to secure a 6-1 non-conference win over Saint Joseph's College (2-3-1) on Tuesday afternoon at Leib Field.
The Beavers took advantage of a corner kick in the sixth minute. Katie Clark (Westbrook, Maine/Westbrook) took the corner and booted a pass in front of the goal where Kailyn Hill (Lisbon, Maine/Lisbon) was there for the header and gave UMF an early 1-0 advantage.
The Monks answered back late in the second half when Haley DaGraca tallied her third goal of the season in the 33rd minute.
UMF retook the lead early in the second half and strung together five unanswered goals. Hadlee Yescott (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) tapped a pass through the St. Joe's defense where Lydia Roy (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) took one dribble and lined a grounder in the left side of the net.
Sophie Manning (Westbrook, Maine/Westbrook) notched her first goal of the season in the 54th minute. After a UMF shot bounced off the left post, Manning got the rebound and bent a shot into the right side of the net.
UMF used another corner kick as a scoring opportunity in the 62nd minute. Bridget Humphrey (Jefferson, Maine/Erskine Academy) sent a pass into the box where Kaiti Kinney (Surry, Maine/Ellsworth) battled through the Monks' defense and tapped in the goal.
Kinney teamed up with Yescott three minutes later to push the lead to 5-0. Kinney deflected a clear by the St Joe's defense, but the deflection landed right in front of Yescott for the easy score.
UMF's final goal came at feet of another corner kick. Humphrey sent a deep pass to the far end of the box where Ashley Gleason (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) tried to knock in a header. After her initial header was denied, Gleason lined her own rebound in the back of the net for the final margin of victory.
Kiana Thompson (Industry, Maine/Mt. Blue) earned the victory in net for the Beavers after stopping nine shots.
Saint Joseph's plays at Rivier University on Saturday in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest slated to begin at 3:00 PM. UMaine-Farmington travels to Lyndon State on Saturday to begin North Atlantic Conference play.
