Comtois Garners CoSIDA Academic All-District® Honors

STANDISH, Maine - Saint Joseph's College junior midfielder Sarah Comtois (Lowell, Mass.) has garnered College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) All-District® honors, as announced on Thursday afternoon.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their excellence both on the field and in the classroom. The District Team selections are divided into eight geographic districts and further delineated by NCAA Divisions I, II and III.

Comtois, a New Media Communications major with a minor in Journalism, is a member of the Delta Epsilon Sigma National Honor Society, has been listed on the Dean's List all four semesters, garnered 2016 GNAC All-Academic Team accolades, and is a Honors Program member at Saint Joseph's.

She also serves as a member of the SJC Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and is a First Year Experience (FYE) Counselor while juggling internships with the Saint Joseph's Sports Information Department and the Maine Red Claws Media Department.

Comtois, a junior captain for the Monks, has started all 18 games this fall and ranks second on the team in goals (6), assists (4), and points (16). Her play has helped St. Joe's earn the #4 seed in the GNAC Tournament, which begins Sunday with a 1:00 PM quarterfinal contest at home versus #5 Simmons College.

She is the only player from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) to earn the academic honor and is one of two players – Colby College's Samantha Rizzo (Waterville, Maine) being the other – from a Maine College or University to be honored. Comtois is also the first SJC women's soccer player to claim the high academic honor.

First team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first, second and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
