FARMINGTON, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (2-2-0) blanked UMaine-Farmington (1-3-0), 3-0, in a non-conference women's soccer match on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Monks took an early lead when junior Haley DaGraca (Saco, Maine) scored off a Colleen Sheehan (Medway, Mass.) through ball at the 11:21 mark and doubled their advantage 20 minutes later when freshman Brenna Smith (Maynard, Mass.) netted her first collegiate tally.

Saint Joseph's capped the game scoring five minutes into the second stanza when Sheehan scored off a Sarah Comtois (Lowell, Mass.) feed.

THE KEEPERS:

Saint Joseph's featured two netminders in the victory, as senior Brooke Troup (East Bridgewater, Mass.) made four saves in 69:42 between the pipes and freshman Madi Day (Hiram, Maine), making her collegiate debut, posted a pair of saves over 20:18 of mop-up duty.

UMF senior goalie Kiana Thompson (Industry, Maine) denied 13 of 16 shots in a losing effort.

TEAM STATS:

Saint Joseph's held considerable leads in shots (23-12), shots on goal (16-6), and corner kicks (6-2) in the triumph.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

With the victory, Saint Joseph's improves to 29-16-4 in the history of the series with UMaine-Farmington and snaps a three-game losing streak at the hands of the Beavers.

Saint Joseph's returns to action Wednesday when the team travels to Emmanuel College for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match starting at 7:00 PM.
