STANDISH, Maine - Saint Joseph's College senior midfielder Sarah Comtois (Lowell, Mass.) has earned College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) All-District® honors for the second-consecutive year, as announced by the organization on Thursday.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their excellence both on the field and in the classroom. The District Team selections are divided into eight geographic districts and further delineated by NCAA Divisions I, II and III.
With her second academic accolade, Comtois becomes just the second Saint Joseph's student-athlete to earn multiple CoSIDA honors, as she joins former softball/field hockey standout Alyssa Dunn '11 in the exclusive club. Dunn earned three CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, as well as a Second Team Academic All-America award, during her collegiate career.
Comtois, a New Media Communications major with a minor in Journalism, is a two-year member of and secretary for the Delta Epsilon Sigma National Honor Society, has been listed on the Dean's List all six semesters, garnered 2016 and 2017 GNAC All-Academic Team accolades, and is a Honors Program member at Saint Joseph's.
She also serves as a member of the SJC Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and has worked as an intern in the Saint Joseph's Sports Information Department for three years. Comtois has also served as a First-Year Experience (FYE) Peer Mentor and a Service Trip participant at Saint Joseph's and has logged internship hours for the Portland Sea Dogs, Maine Red Claws, Nashua Silver Knights, and Portland's NBC affiliate, WSCH 6.
Comtois, a two-year captain for the Monks, started all 20 games this fall and tallied two goals with two assists for six total points during her senior season. The four-year starter and two-time Second Team All-Conference honoree registered 12 goals and 10 assists totaling 34 points in 77 career games and leaves the program ranked third in team history in games played.
She is the one of two Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) players – Suffolk's Alexandra Nagri is the other - to earn the academic honor and is the only player hailing from a Maine College or University to be honored.
First team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first, second and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
