FARMINGTON, Maine – Four different players scored to help Saint Joseph's College (4-1-1) defeat UMaine-Farmington (0-4-1), 4-1, in a non-conference women's soccer contest on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Monks opened the game-scoring at the 5:51 mark when junior McKenzie Murphy (West Baldwin, Maine) netted her second goal of the season off a Kayla Gooch (Dracut, Mass.) feed.

Freshman Madison Michaud (Presque Isle, Maine) tacked on her second goal of the year in the 37th minute off a pass from classmate Samantha Colatruglio (Mahopac, N.Y.) to make it a 2-0 game, but the Beavers closed the gap six minutes later when junior McKenna Brodeur (Oakland, Maine) hit pay dirt off a Fern Calkins (Oakland, Maine) dish as the Monks headed into intermission with a 2-1 edge.

St. Joe's came out firing in the second stanza and the offensive barrage paid dividends with two strikes in a matter of nine minutes. Sophomore Ashley Emery (Madison, Maine) potted an unassisted tally in the 51st minute and senior Hannah Butler (Melrose, Mass.) struck for her first marker of the year off a Kendall Dolan (Kennebunk, Maine) pass in the 60th minute to close out the game scoring.

TEAM STATS:

Saint Joseph's held sizeable advantages in shots (31-9), shots on goal (16-6), and corner kicks (9-2) on the afternoon.

THE KEEPERS:

SJC sophomore netminder Adia Grogan (Kennebunk, Maine) made five saves in the triumph while UMF played a pair of goalies in the loss, with junior Callie Hammer (Ellsworth, Maine) making seven saves in 66:43 minutes and freshman Chelsea Davis (Gray, Maine) turning away all five shots she faced in 23:17 minutes of relief.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

Saint Joseph's is now 31-16-4 all-time versus UMaine-Farmington and has defeated the Beavers in three-consecutive meetings.

NEXT!

St. Joe's is off until next Saturday when the team hosts Regis College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup slated to begin at 11:00 AM.
