SJC Women's Soccer Earns United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award

STANDISH, Maine – The 2019-20 United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Awards have been announced and the Saint Joseph's College women's soccer team is on the list for the second-consecutive season.

In order to receive the national honor teams must record a collective grade point average of 3.0 or higher. For the 2019-20 academic year, a total of 889 college teams earned the Team Academic Award (333 men, 556 women), including 172 schools who had both their men's and women's programs meet the criteria for this year's honor.

With a 3.50 team GPA, Saint Joseph's is one of four Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) programs to have earned the academic award as the Monks are joined by Johnson & Wales, Regis, and Suffolk on the prestigious list.

A total of 13 SJC women's soccer players garnered GNAC All-Academic accolades following the completion of the 2020 spring semester. Emma Auclair (Kittery, Maine), Cori Balam (Lyndeborough, N.H.), Hannah Butler (Melrose, Mass.), Maddison Cormier (Bangor, Maine), Elizabeth Flynn (Kennebunk, Maine), Adia Grogan (Kennebunk, Maine), Jade Jordan (Turner, Maine), McKenzie Murphy (West Baldwin, Maine), Eilidh Sidaway (Dedham, Maine), Sophie Silva (Portland, Maine), Brenna Smith (Maynard, Mass.), Hailey Tarr (Eliot, Maine), and Madeline Wood (Madison, Maine) were recognized by the conference after notching a 3.25 GPA or higher through the spring term.
