ON THIS DATE: Monks Upset Lasers, Claim First-Ever GNAC Championship

On November 4th, 2018 #2 Saint Joseph's College unseated #1 Lasell College, 1-0, in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Soccer Championship at Lasell's Taylor Field.  The men's soccer, women's soccer, and field hockey teams all claimed GNAC Championships on this date.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Senior forward Haley DaGraca (Saco, Maine) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at the 59:14 mark, when senior Colleen Sheehan (Medway, Mass.) worked her way around two defenders and delivered a precise right-to-left crossing pass to her classmate, who headed a one-timer past the Lasell keeper
  • For Lasell, the loss snapped an eight-year GNAC Championship run
  • SJC freshman Adia Grogan (Kennebunk, Maine) was outstanding in the victory and tied her season high with 10 saves in the shutout
  • Lasell posted leads in shots (17-8), shots on goal (10-4), and corner kicks (7-2) on the afternoon
