FRANKLIN, Mass. – Saint Joseph's College defeated Dean College, 3-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon.
Saint Joseph's improves to 4-4 overall and remains unbeaten in GNAC action at 4-0. Dean dips to 0-3-2 overall and 0-3 in conference play. The Monks host Albertus Magnus College on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
After a well-played scoreless first half, the Monks broke through in the second half with three goals.
In the 64th minute, junior Madison Michaud (Presque Isle, Maine) received a perfect thru ball from senior Kayley Mattos (Mahopac, N.Y.) to lead to a break away. Michaud did the rest as she scored her team leading eighth goal of the season.
The Monks doubled their lead in the 75th minute when sophomore Aaliyah Wilson-Falcone (Winthrop, Maine) sent a cross into the box to the feet of Tatum Hancock (Damariscotta, Maine) who scored her second of the season.
In the 84th minute, Michaud added to her team-high goal total with an unassisted tally off that ricocheted off a Dean defender.
Dean first-year Nina Medeiros (Fairhaven, Mass.) led the team with a couple of shots on target.
Monks goalie Aida Grogan (Kennebunk, Maine) earned the clean sheet with six saves. First-year Haley Gaunt (Johnston, R.I.) made 12 saves for Dean.
