Monks Blank Sharks, Harris Notches 100th Career Victory

BOSTON, Mass. – Saint Joseph's College (3-4-0, 3-0-0 GNAC) blanked Simmons University (2-5-1, 1-2-0 GNAC), 2-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer contest on Wednesday night.

MILESTONE MET:

With the victory, SJC Head Coach Jenelle Harris earns the 100th victory of her career. Now in her 10th season at the helm for the Monks, Harris is the winningest and longest-tenured coach in the 35-year history of the Saint Joseph's College women's soccer program with a 100-56-10 (.602) career record.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Senior forward Madison Michaud (Presque Isle, Maine) netted her fourth goal of the season at the 12:18 mark and the 1-0 lead remained until the 56th minute when junior defender Claudia Janelle (Biddeford, Maine) scored her first collegiate tally.

TEAM STATS:

Saint Joseph's held the advantage in shots (26-8), shots on goal (11-7), and corner kicks in the GNAC triumph.

THE KEEPERS:

SJC junior Carly Downey (Yarmouth, Maine) notched her second-consecutive shutout after making seven saves while Simmons netminder Marita Nothacker recorded nine stops in a losing bid.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

Saint Joseph's is now 11-6-1 in the history of the series with Simmons University and has now defeated the Sharks in four-consecutive meetings dating back to the 2018 season.

NEXT!

Saint Joseph's will host Norwich University on Saturday in a conference contest slated to start at 1:00 PM.
