Monks Take Fourth in Southern Maine Cup
SOUTH PORTLAND, ME - The SJC Golf team carded a collective score
of 242 to earn a fourth-place finish in the Southern Maine Cup at
Sable Oaks Golf Course on Friday. The unique event features pairs
of golfers playing six holes of best ball, followed by six holes of
scramble format and finally six holed of alternate shot golf. The
Monks were led by the pairing of Steve
Sands '10 (Westbrook, ME) and
Mike Lavoie '10 (Lewiston, ME),
who together carded a 78 in the competition.
Southern Maine captured the crown with a 221 team score, while
University of Maine-Farmington (231) and University of New England
(236) placed second and third, respectively.
The USM pairing of Brian Moskevich and Dan Chadwick recorded the
low score, a 70, for the day.
Saint Joseph's will participate in the Husson Fall Invitational on
Tuesday at the Penobscot Valley Country Club in Orono. Tee time is
set for 11:00 AM.
