Golfers Place Third in Colby Classic

WATERVILLE, ME – The Saint Joseph's Golf team placed third in the Colby Classic with a modified score of 228 strokes in the event. The SJC pairing of Jake Brown '13 (Lewiston, ME) and C.J. Bergeron '14 (Auburn, ME) finished second with 73 strokes on the day.

The scoring for the tournament used best-ball for the first six holes, scramble for holes 7-13 and alternate shot for the final six holes.

Colby (White) earned team honors with a 223 score, while University of Maine-Farmington finished second with 227 strokes. St. Joe's (228), Colby (Blue) (238) and University of Maine-Presque Isle (239) rounded out the team-scoring. University of New England withdrew from the event.

The Colby pairing of Billy Pettengill and Alex Hymanson earned top-duo honors with a 72 score. Colby (White) golfer Steve Carroll recorded a hole-in-one on the 13th hole.

Monks linkers Jeff Hilton '13 (Limington, ME) and Ebb Walton '12 (Blue Hill, ME) finished with a 76, while Kevin Richardson '14 (Coventry, CT) and T.J. Garske '12 (Federal Way, WA) carded a 79 in the competition.

Saint Joseph's will participate in the Maine-Farmington Invitational at Sunday River Golf Club in Newry, ME on Thursday. Tee time is set for 10:00 AM.
