Fifth-Consecutive Weekly Honor for Caron

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards have been announced and Saint Joseph's College sophomore Michael Caron (Gorham, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Golfer of the Week for the fifth-consecutive reporting period.

Caron won his fourth tournament with a 70 card in the University of New England Invitational at Cape Arundel Golf Club on Tuesday and was in a tie for second with a 73 in the first round of the Southern Maine Fall Classic on Sunday. Caron's win at UNE was his third consecutive medalist honor and the 70 card marks the lowest 18-hole score of his career. It is also the best effort by a Monks golfer since 2007.

The sophomore standout has earned golfer of the week honors in every reporting period so far this fall and was chosen as the ECAC NCAA DIII Golfer of the Month last week. Caron shared the GNAC weekly award with Worcester State University's David Rixham on September 8th.

Saint Joseph's closes play in the University of Southern Maine Fall Classic at Gorham Country Club today and resumes play in the GNAC Championship at Ponkapoag Golf Club in Canton, Massachusetts on Saturday, October 18th.
