Letourneau Claims ECAC DIII Co-Rookie of the Month Honors

STANDISH, Maine – The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) monthly golf honors have been announced and Saint Joseph's College freshman Cam Letourneau (Hebron, Maine) has been tabbed as the NCAA DIII Co-Rookie of the Month.

Letourneau, who shares the high honor with Trinity College freshman Will Rosenfield (Baltimore, Md.), is the second player in the history of the Saint Joseph's College golf program to earn an ECAC monthly award. Teammate Mike Caron (Gorham, Maine), the first to receive an ECAC honor, claimed NCAA DIII Co-Golfer of the Month acclaim on October 3rd, 2014.

Letourneau enjoyed a strong start to his college career in the month of September. He carded a 73 on September 23rd to earn medalist honors at the Thomas Invitational. He then shot a 74-73--147 on Sept. 26-27 to finish fifth overall at the Husson Invitational. The freshman helped lead the Monks to the team title at the Maine Intercollegiate Championship Sept. 19-20, finishing second overall with a 72-75--147. He also placed third (76) at the John Queenan Memorial Tournament September 8th, and shot a 74 to tie for fifth among individual golfers at the Maine-Farmington Invitational, which Saint Joseph's also won.

Most recently, Letourneau helped the Monks claim the University of Southern Maine Cup crown, as he paired with Caron to shoot a three-under par 68 (33-35) – the top score in the Ryder Cup formatted event – last Friday.

Through six tournaments this fall, Letourneau has ranked as the Monks' leading scorer on five occasions and sports a per-round score of 74.5. He has been selected as the GNAC Rookie of the Week on four occasions with a pair of GNAC Player of the Week accolades to his credit.

Saint Joseph's returns to action this Friday with an appearance in the University of New England Invitational.
