Monks Finish Second at Dunegrass

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College finished second with a 338 team card in a dual event with University of Southern Maine at Dunegrass Golf Club on Monday. Junior Jake Laplume (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) paced the Monks with a 76 score and tied for second overall.

Southern Maine senior Greg Kalagias (Saco, Maine) carded an even-par 72 to earn medalist honors and help the Huskies post a 317 composite score.

For the Monks, Laplume turned in the best nine-hole score of the day with a two-under par 34 on the front nine, sophomore Sean McDonough (Concord, N.H.) tied for fourth with an 84 (41-43), sophomore Cody Rizzo (West Gardiner, Maine) shot an 87 (41-46) and placed eighth, and sophomore Trevor Flanagan (Monmouth, Maine) was ninth with a 91 (43-48) score. Senior Owen Kiernan (West Greenwich, R.I.) rounded out the 10-player field with a 97 (47-50) card.

The Monks are back in action next Monday when they compete in the 2021 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship, which will be held at the Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy, Massachusetts.
