Track & Field Opens at USM Invitational

GORHAM, Maine - The Saint Joseph's College track and field program kicked off the 2014-15 indoor season with an appearance in the USM Invitational on Saturday.

Four records were set on the men's side, as sophomore Nick Shuckrow (Winslow, Maine) registered a program best with an eighth-place finish in the two mile run (10:20.51), sophomore Calvin Field (Windham, Maine) broke the high jump mark with a 1.78M effort, good for fourth, and freshman Jamie Carlson (Jericho, Vt.) post team record performances in the triple jump (11.49M, 8th) and weight throw (9.44M, 10th) events.

Senior Faisal Abdillahi (Lewiston, Maine) also performed well, with a runner-up time (52.39) in the 400-Meter dash and a sixth-place effort in the 200-Meter dash (24.25). Field placed fifth in the 55-Meter dash (6.94) and Carlson added a seventh-place finish in the shot put (10.68M) event.

On the women's side, freshman Kyrie Harnden (Wilton, Maine) won the first event of her career with a top finish in the 400-Meter dash (1:13.62), senior Heather Eaton (Lincolnville, Maine) placed second in the 3000-Meter run (11.15.03), and sophomore Gabby Lodge (Westbrook, Maine) was eighth in the weight throw (9.17M).

Saint Joseph's returns to action with an appearance in the University of Southern Maine Open on Saturday, January 10th.
