Monks Compete in Maine State Championship

LEWISTON, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College men's track and field program placed fifth with 12 points in the 2015 Maine State Indoor Championship, which was hosted by Bates College on Saturday evening.

The women placed sixth with 15 points in the State Championship, which was hosted by Bates on Friday evening.

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Sophomore Calvin Field (Windham, Maine) broke team records in the high jump (1.93m) and long jump (5.91m) and placed fourth and 11th in the events, respectively
  • Sophomore Nick Shuckrow (Winslow, Maine) placed 10th in the 5000-Meter with a 16:21.67 effort
  • Senior Faisal Abdillahi (Lewiston, Maine) finished fifth in the 400-Meter with a 52.48 time and also posted a 13th-place effort in the 200-Meter (24.20)
  • The Monks' 4x400 relay team set a new team record with a 3:45.18 and finished fourth overall
  • Freshman Jamie Carlson (Jericho, Vt.) was ninth in the shot put with a 10.38m effort and was also 13th in the triple jump (11.69m)

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Senior Amber Dostie (Standish, Maine) placed eighth with a 5:31.13 time in the 1-Mile
  • Senior Heather Eaton (Lincolnville, Maine) broke the team record with a 10:52.97 effort in the 3000-Meter, a time that was good for third overall
  • The Monks' 4x400 relay squad placed fifth with a team-record 4:48.78 performance
  • Sophomore Rachel Calden (Jay, Maine) tied the team record with a 4.22m effort in the long jump and placed 18th in the event

 

 

NEXT: The Monks compete in the Valentine Invitational at Boston University next Saturday.
