Monks Host First Event, Finish Fourth in Giant Slalom

BRIDGTON, Maine – Saint Joseph's College finished fourth with a 4:15.37 cumulative time in a giant slalom race at Shawnee Peak on Sunday morning. The event was the Monks' first-ever home race.

UMaine-Farmington won the event with a 4:06.25 aggregate time while Bowdoin College was second (4:12.22), and UMaine-Orono finished third (4:13.60). UMF's Kyra Long won the race with a 1:17.52 total time.

THE RUNDOWN:

  • Freshman Annie Cerminaro (Unityville, Pa.) placed third with a 1:20.43 total time and finished fifth (40.54) on the first run and fourth (39.89) on the second run
  • Freshman Sarah Lachance (Auburn, Maine) was 11th with a 1:27.19 time after placing 12th (43.56/43.63) on both legs
  • Freshman Jillian Luby (finished 12th with a 1:27.75 effort and finished 13th (44.35) on the first run and 11th (43.40) on the second
  • Sophomore Sarah Hotchkiss (New Durham, N.H.) was 16th (1:29.71) after placing 15th (44.45) on the first leg and 18th (45.26) on the second
  • Freshman Tucker Davis (South Berwick, Maine) was 12th in the men's race with a 1:23.42 composite time after finishing 12th (41.29) on the first run and 14th (42.13) on the second

Saint Joseph's returns to action next Saturday at Lost Valley in Auburn. The event begins at 10:00 AM.
