Monks Host Panel Slalom Race at Pleasant Mountain

BRIDGTON, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College alpine ski teams hosted a pair of USCSA Reynolds Division panel slalom races at Pleasant Mountain on Friday afternoon. The Saint Joseph's men' finished second with 11 place points and a 4:06.22 time while the SJC women also place second with 11 points and a 4:25.80 total time.

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

The Beavers completed the sweep by finishing ahead of the Monks with 10 points and a 4:22.22 composite time. UMF's Elanore Robb claimed top individual honors with a 1:26.45 (43.00, 43.45) time while SJC junior Madelyn Zordan (New Hartford, Conn.) placed second (1:26.77, 43.56 / 43.21) and senior Courtney Pingree (Marblehead, Mass.) notched a third-place (1:27.18, 43.29 / 43.89) performance.

New England College finished third with 49 place points while Bowdoin was fourth (50 pts), UMaine-Orono placed fifth (53 pts), and Colby finished sixth with 69 place points.

FOR THE MONKS:

  • Zordan finished second with a 1:26.77 (43.56 / 43.21) time
  • Pingree was third with a 1:27.18 (43.29 / 43.89) effort
  • Sophomore Sienna Mack placed sixth (1:31.85, 45.72, 46.13)
  • Freshman Hannah Golden finished ninth (1:34.40, 47.12 / 47.18)
  • Freshman Megan Cyr was 11th (1:35.16, 47.93 / 47.25)
  • Senior Maeghan Perkins (Turner, Maine) placed 13th with a 1:38.64 (53.19, 45.45) time
  • Junior Lillian Souweine finished 14th (1:39.52, 49.85 / 49.67)
  • Freshman Lily Anctil posted a 47.65 time on the first run and posted a DNF on the second

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

With three skiers in the top five, including runner-up Colgan O'Keefe (1:21.30) and third-place finisher Chase Raven (1:22.14), the UMaine-Farmington Beavers took home the men's title with a 4:06.20 time and 10 points. SJC senior Liam Strobeck (Charlotte, Vt.) notched his second win of the season – and 16th of his college career – with a 1:20.84 performance.

Bowdoin placed third with 56 points, UMaine-Orono was fourth (68 pts), New England College finished fifth (76 pts), and Colby was sixth (117 pts).

FOR THE MONKS:

  • Strobeck posted a 1:20.84 (40.09 – 40.75) time to claim his second top finish of the season
  • Sophomore Jack Price (Franconia, N.H.) placed fourth with a 1:22.53 (41.19, 41.34) effort
  • Junior Jacob Morris (Woodstock, N.H.) finished sixth with a 1:22.85 (41.63, 41.22) time
  • Sophomore Logan Davis (Naples, Maine) was 10th (1:23.36, 42.14 / 41.22) performance
  • Sophomore Colin Rathbone (Groton, Mass.) placed 11th (1:23.41, 41.88 / 41.53)
  • Senior Caleb Gorton (Goffstown, N.H.) finished 12th (1:23.45, 41.68 / 41.77)
  • Freshman Charlie Pye (Rangely, Mass.) notched a 1:29.40 (42.94 / 46.46) time and placed 20th
  • Freshman Sam Plummer (Raymond, Maine) was 24th (1:31.99, 46.34 / 45.65)
  • Sophomore Jacob Gilmore (Naples, Maine) finished 32nd (1:45, 53.01 / 52.80)
