CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College women's alpine ski team raced to a seventh-place finish with a 5:19.26 composite time in the USCSA Eastern Regional Slalom Championship at Sugarloaf Mountain on Saturday.
Castleton University topped the 16-team field with a 4:41.68 time while Babson College (4:43.38), Northeastern University (5:02.65), Clarkson University (5:05.48), and UMass.-Amherst (5:17.31) rounded out the top five teams. University of Connecticut placed sixth with a 5:18.94 team effort.
Castleton's Emilie Stene took home the individual slalom championship with a 1:31.09 performance while Caroline Haaijer from Babson was second (1:33.15) and Clarkson's Hannah Goetz finished third (1:33.28).
THE RUNDOWN:
- Junior Courtney Pingree (Marblehead, Mass.) led the Monks and placed 20th overall with a 1:43.42 (52.32, 51.10) effort
- Sophomore Maddie Zordan (New Hartford, Conn.) finished 27th with a 1:45.76 (52.44, 53.32) time
- Junior Maeghan Perkins (Turner, Maine) was 32nd (1:50.08, 54.11 – 55.97)
- Junior Erica Irvin (Windham, N.H.) placed 36th (1:52.42, 56.22 – 56.20)
- Freshman Sienna Mack (Lincoln, N.H.) finished 43rd (2:00.15, 1:00.53 – 59.62)
