Pride Invitational Day Two: St. Joe's Drops Pair of Matches

WESTON, MA - The Lady Monks were defeated by Mount Ida College (3-0) and Roger Williams University (3-1) on the second day of the Pride Invitational hosted by Regis College to fall to 0-5 on the season.

Freshman Katie Boccanelli (Cottonwood, AL) was named to the All-Tournament Team for her play in the five matches. Boccanelli tallied 18 kills, 11 total blocks and 10 digs in the tourney.

In the 3-0 (14-25, 11-25, 12-25) loss to Mount Ida, Kaliopy Hologitas '12 (Rockland, ME) had six digs, Amanda Ruel '09 (Biddeford, ME) notched five digs, Katie Boccanelli '12 recorded four kills and Kiersten Carbone '12 (North Reading, MA) added three kills.

In the 3-1 loss to Roger Williams (25-21, 11-25, 14-25, 10-25), Samantha Varrell (Portsmouth, NH) '12 recorded 13 assists and four kills, Laura Moreau '12 (Rollinsford, NH) notched 10 digs and Kiersten Carbone '12 added eight digs and three kills. Katie Boccanelli '12 chipped in with four kills and the freshman duo of Karen King (Scarborough, ME) and Kaila Schulte (Rochester, NH) each recorded three kills in the four-game match.

St. Joe's will take to the court on Friday, September 5th at 6:00 PM when they play Lyndon State College in the SJC Autumn Invitational. Later that evening they will face off against Green Mountain College.
