Monks Fly Past Eagles, 3-1

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (11-13, 5-7 GNAC) defeated Husson University (6-14, 6-3 NAC), 3-1 (25-22, 25-19, 25-27, 25-17), in a non-conference women's volleyball match on Mike McDevitt Court at the Harold Alfond Center on Wednesday evening.

TEAM STATS:

Saint Joseph's held the lead in kills (45-37), hitting percentage (.158 / .061), assists (40-30), digs (78-70), and blocks (9-5) while Husson posted a 9-7 edge in service aces in a losing effort.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Sophomore Nadia Sixto (Chattanooga, Tenn.) netted seven kills, six digs, and five total blocks
  • Junior Maggie Sylvester (Barrington, N.H.) delivered eight kills with no errors on 14 attempts for a stellar .571 attack percentage
  • Sophomore Victoria Briones (El Paso, Texas) posted eight kills and 10 digs
  • Junior Hanna Webster (Alvin, Texas) notched seven kills with a .429 hitting percentage and five digs
  • Freshman Larisa Comolli (Nashua, N.H.) added six kills and three total blocks
  • Senior Kailyn Chamberlin (Milford, N.H.) contributed two kills, 18 assists, and nine digs
  • Senior Caitlin Quinn (Dover, N.H.) recorded 10 assists
  • Senior Abby Jerome (Barrington, N.H.) tallied three service aces and 24 digs

LEADERS – HUSSON:

  • Freshman Janna Preskorn (Centennial, Colo.) led all players with 15 kills and added three aces and eight digs
  • Graduate Cheyanne Young (Eagle River, Alaska) posted 12 kills and 16 digs
  • Junior Alyvia McIntyre (San Jose, Calif.) delivered 26 assists, a pair of aces, and 14 digs
  • Junior Beatrice Tursi (Strafford, N.H.) added two aces and 17 digs

Saint Joseph's is back in action tomorrow night when they travel to Gorham for a 6:00 PM non-conference match at the University of Southern Maine.
