STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's College (8-4)
defeated Lesley University (2-6), 3-1 (25-21, 25-11, 17-25, 25-14)
in women's volleyball action on Tuesday evening at the Harold
Alfond Center. Sarah Hawkes '13
(Pownal, ME) notched 13 kills, 9 digs, 4 solo blocks and a
season-best .478 hitting percentage and the Monks recorded 60 digs,
a season high for a four-set match.
Amanda McCracken '13 (Eldersburg, MD) led the Lynx with 7 kills and
12 digs and teammate Kaitlyn Miller '13 (Leesport, PA) chipped in
with 18 assists and 6 digs.
For the Monks, Jordan Pelczar '12
(Meredith, NH) collected 12 digs, 9 kills and 4 aces and
Caitlin Cleary '13 (Scarborough,
ME) posted 11 digs and 6 kills. Kiah
Begley '13 (Berwick, ME/St. Thomas Aquinas) dealt
31 assists and Samantha Varrell
'12 (Portsmouth, NH) added nine digs in the victory.
St. Joe's will host University of New England on Thursday at 6:00
PM while Lesley is set to play Community College of Rhode Island on
the road on Thursday at 7:30 PM.
