STANDISH, ME - University of New England (2-3) defeated Saint
Joseph's (8-5), 3-0 (25-10, 25-14, 25-22), in volleyball action at
the Harold Alfond Center on Thursday evening.
Sarah Hawkes '13 (Pownal, ME) had
8 digs, 7 kills and 7 blocks in the loss.
Claire Varner '10 (Breckenridge, MI) recorded a match-high 15 kills
and added 9 digs for the Nor'easters. Ellen Choinski '10
(Saunderstown, RI) posted a double-double effort for the visitors
with 28 assists and 12 digs and teammate Jackie Stone '13 (Saginaw,
MI) had 16 digs in the victory.
For St. Joe's, Kiah Begley '13
(Berwick, ME/St. Thomas Aquinas) had 17 assists and 8 digs and
Caitlin Cleary '13 (Scarborough,
ME) collected 9 digs and 4 kills.
The Monks will kick off the conference portion of their schedule
with a home tri-match with Suffolk and Saint Joseph (CT) on
Saturday, September 19th. The schedule for the day is as follows:
St. Joe's vs. Suffolk, 12:00 PM; Suffolk vs. Saint Joseph (CT),
2:00 PM; and St. Joe's vs Saint Joseph (CT), 4:00 PM.
