Monks Sweep GNAC Match

WEST HARTFORD, CT - Saint Joseph's (12-6, 3-1 GNAC) swept conference-rival St. Joseph (Conn.) (1-13, 0-4 GNAC) in three sets Saturday. Sarah Hawkes '13 (Pownal, ME) had nine kills, eight digs and two solo blocks for the Monks.

With the three-set win (15-11, 25-19, 15-9), St. Joe's has now won three straight matches and four of five since dropping back to back games to Pine Manor and Daniel Webster on September 18th and 22nd, respectively.

Setter Kiah Begley '13 (Berwick, ME/Saint Thomas  Aquinas) dealt 24 assists with five digs and three service aces and Alyssa Grigware '13 (Biddeford, ME) blasted six aces in the SJC win. Grigware has now notched at least three aces in three straight events and matched her career-high with a half dozen versus the Blue Jays. The sophomore left side hitter also registered six aces in a 3-0 triumph over Lyndon State on September 11th.

Sarah Coffey '14 (Hanover, MA) added eight kills and five digs, Caitlin Cleary '13 (Scarborough, ME) posted five digs, and Brooke Dyer '14 (Lebanon, ME/Saint Thomas Aquinas) chipped in with five kills and three digs for the Monks.

St. Joe's will play at University of New England on Tuesday at 6:00 PM.
