Volleyball Defeats UMaine-Farmington, 3-0

STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph's (15-9, 4-3 GNAC) blanked University of Maine-Farmington (6-12, 2-2 NAC), 3-0, in non-league volleyball action at the Harold Alfond Center on Tuesday night. Sarah Coffey '14 (Hanover, MA) belted a career-high 12 kills in the one-sided match.

With the victory and six regular-season matches remaining, the Monks are assured of posting at least a .500 season record for the first time since 1997. The 2009 Monks narrowly missed the .500 mark with a 16-17 record.

The Monks posted a season-best .264 attack percentage, with 39 kills against just 16 errors in 87 attacks in the non-conference conquest.

Sarah Hawkes '13 (Pownal, ME) added seven kills and eight digs with a spectacular .636 attack percentage and Kiah Begley '13 (Berwick, ME/Saint Thomas Aquinas) notched 28 assists and three service aces for the Monks. Brooke Dyer '14 (Lebanon, ME/Saint Thomas Aquinas) posted a match-high 12 digs with seven kills and three aces and Alyssa Grigware '13 (Biddeford, ME) had six kills, five digs and four aces in the triumph.

Saint Joseph's will travel to Emerson College (18-8, 7-1 GNAC) on Thursday for a 7:00 PM match against the reigning GNAC Champions.
