STANDISH, ME – When Sarah Hawkes (Pownal, Maine) recorded her third kill in a 3-0 victory over conference-rival University of Saint Joseph (CT) on Saturday, the senior middle blocker became the first player in Monks volleyball history to notch 1,000 career kills.

Hawkes, a two-time All-Conference honoree, registered her 1,000th career dig in a loss to Lasell College on September 29th and is also the first SJC player to reach the four-digit dig total. She is just the fourth player in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's volleyball history to tally 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs, as she joins AnnMarie Proto (Johnson & Wales, 2001-04), Ashley Constantino (Johnson & Wales, 2006-09) and Jenna Ross (Emmanuel, 2008-11) in the exclusive "Double-Grand Club."

The four-year starter owns numerous program records, including the single-game marks for attack percentage (.650) and digs (40) and the single-season high-water marks for kills (325, 2009), attack percentage (.280, 2009), solo blocks (59, 2009) and  blocks per set (0.7, 2009).
