STANDISH, Maine – Lasell College (4-7, 1-0 GNAC) tipped Saint Joseph's College (3-6, 0-1 GNAC) in five sets (25-22,20-25,25-22,10-25,15-5) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) volleyball action at the Harold Alfond Center on Saturday.
The Monks showed plenty of fight in the hard-fought loss, as the hosts trailed 1-0 and rebounded with a 25-20 second-set win and staved off the Lasers, albeit temporarily, with a dominant 25-10 fourth-set triumph before running out of gas in a 15-5 fifth-set loss.
LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S
- Senior Victoria Huntley (Ellsworth, Maine) tallied 10 kills and 14 digs
- Junior Jordynne Copp (Cumberland, Maine) posted nine kills, six digs and three total blocks
- Freshman Chatham Mills (Gorham, Maine) added seven kills and three total blocks
- Sophomore Emma Tirrell (Scarborough, Maine) boasted 31 assists and 12 digs with three block assists
- Senior Shadai Gosselin (Somersworth, N.H.) totaled four kills and 22 digs
- Sophomore Jennelle Thompson (Farmington, N.H.) registered 38 digs
LEADERS – LASELL
- Sophomore Olivia Addington (Orange, Calif.) led all players with 11 kills and added 19 digs
- Junior Meredith Eagan (North Andover, Mass.) posted seven kills with a pair of block assists
- Junior Michele Canestro (Castleton, N.Y.) tallied five kills with 14 digs and two aces
- Sophomore Cassidy Murray (Red Hook, N.Y.) contributed with five kills and a .571 attack rate
- Junior Taylor Tiezzi (Meriden, Conn.) dealt 20 assists with nine digs
- Junior Caitlyn Garcia (Moreno Valley, Calif.) chipped in with 24 digs
TEAM STATS
Lasell held the lead in kills (35-34) and aces (12-4) while Saint Joseph's led in attack percentage and digs (101-93) and both squads posted six blocks in the conference contest.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING
With the result, Saint Joseph's falls to 3-11 versus Lasell College (since 1989) and has now dropped five-consecutive matches at the hands of the Lasers. Six of the last eight meetings between the conference counterparts have required five sets to determine a winner.

Both teams return to play on Tuesday when Saint Joseph's plays at Bates College at 7:00 PM and Lasell travels to University of Saint Joseph for a 7:00 PM conference match.
