STANDISH, Maine – Led by Tournament MVP Payton Spragling (Pearl City, Hawaii), the University of Maine-Fort Kent (5-2) defeated Saint Joseph's College (4-4), 3-0 (25-23, 32-30, 25-18) to claim the SJC Autumn Invitational for the second-consecutive season. Husson University (7-2) defeated Maine-Presque Isle (3-4), 3-1 (25-23, 19-25, 25-20, 25-13), in the tournament consolation contest.

Earlier in the day, Saint Joseph's topped Husson, 3-1 (25-20, 25-20, 25-22) and Maine-Fort Kent bested Maine-Presque Isle, 3-1 (25-16, 21-25, 25-22, 25-12). TOURNAMENT LEADERS

The Monks trailed early in all three sets but managed to pull off a sweep with the help of seven blocks and eight service aces. Sophomore Kelsey Bickford (Somersworth, N.H.) registered 12 kills while senior Jordynne Copp (Cumberland, Maine) contributed 10 kills and four block solos in the victory.

Junior Jennelle Thompson (Farmington, N.H.) added 24 digs, junior Sarah Dyer (Seabrook, N.H.) tallied 27 assists, eight digs, and a pair of aces, and freshman Sophia Randall (Epping, N.H.) chipped in with four aces and nine digs.

For the Eagles, junior Kaitlyn Woods (Charlton, Mass.) posted a double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs, sophomore Hanna Hembrow (Milford, N.H.) added four kills, 19 assists, and seven digs, and sophomore Katelyn McKenzie (Saco, Maine) posted a team-high 14 digs.

Junior Payton Spragling (Pearl City, Hawaii) rattled off 19 kills in 56 attempts with 30 digs and three aces to help the Bengals work past the Owls in a four-set triumph. Junior Adriana Gutierrez (Lindsay, Calif.) added 13 kills in 54 attempts with 24 digs while junior Haley West (Redding, Calif.) dealt 46 assists with five digs and senior Kamalani Kahele (Kalihi, Hawaii) was credited with 37 digs in the victory.

For the Owls, sophomore Miranda Washinawatok (Shawano, Wis.) posted 11 kills and nine digs, sophomore Maddi Thweatt (Middleton, Idaho) netted 10 kills and five digs, sophomore Brittney Harper (East Mountain, Nova Scotia) added 22 assists and seven digs, and sophomore Esmeralda Galvan (Bullhead City, Ariz.) chipped in with 16 digs in the setback.

CHAMPIONSHIP: Maine-Fort Kent 3, Saint Joseph's 0 (25-23, 32-30, 25-18) - BOX

The Bengals rebounded from yesterday's 3-1 setback at the hands of the Monks to claim their second-consecutive SJC Autumn Invitational in a hard-fought three-set sweep. Saint Joseph's remained within striking distance, particularly the first two sets, which were decided by four points combined, but in the end could not overcome an efficient UMFK hitting attack (41 kills, 22 errors).

For the Monks, freshman Erin Olson (Stoughton, Mass.) posted a .304 attack rate with 10 kills and three miscues in 23 attempts, Copp added nine kills and four block solos, Bickford tallied nine kills and four digs, and Dyer contributed 33 assists and nine digs. Thompson registered 23 digs and Randall made the box score with two kills, five aces, and 10 digs.

For the Bengals, junior Mia Satterfield (Fairfield, Conn.) netted 12 kills in 27 attempts with a .259 attack rate, West dealt 35 assists with 10 digs, Kahele added 23 digs, and Driscoll and Gutierrez notched eight kills apiece.

CONSOLATION: Husson 3, Maine Presque-Isle 1 (25-23, 19-25, 25-20, 25-13) - BOX

Sophomore Riley Mooers (Mount Desert, Maine) recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 15 digs as well as three aces to help the Eagles defeat the Owls for the second time in as many days and claim the SJC Autumn Invitational Consolation match. Senior Nia Arranaga (San Jose, Calif.) boasted nine kills and a .227 attack ra te with three aces and four total blocks, Hembrow and Bailey Cote (Biddeford, Maine) chipped in with eight kills apiece, and Delaney Chisholm (Tewksbury, Mass.) contributed 23 digs in the victory. Hembrow added 28 assists and 12 digs to an impressive stat line.

For the Owls, Washinawatok tallied nine kills and 10 digs, Taylor Johnson (Eagle, Idaho) tacked on six kills and 10 digs, and Galvan and Williams both posted 18 digs in the setback.
