Saint Joseph's Sweeps Tri-Match

NEWTON, Mass. – Saint Joseph's College (7-7, 1-1 GNAC) won a pair of games at Lasell College on Saturday. The Monks opened with a 3-1 (25-16, 23-25, 26-24, 25-22) over the host Lasers (4-10, 0-2 GNAC) and completed the sweep with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-19) over Mitchell College (0-9).

GAME ONE: Saint Joseph's 3, Lasell 1

The conference counterparts stood at a 1-1 tie after the first two sets, but the Monks hit .239 and .286 in the final frames to take the win, 3-1.

Kelsey Bickford (Somersworth, N.H.) was the lone Monk to see double digit kills, as the sophomore swung into 11 overall. Jordynne Copp (Cumberland, Maine) hit a team-best .368 with eight kills on 19 attempts, adding 10.5 points in the effort Jennelle Thompson led all players with 20 digs in the match.

Olivia Addington (Orange, Calif.) again led the Lasers in the kills category with 18 overall, contributing 20 points with a service ace and two block assists. Mickayla Shelburn (Waterford, Conn.) was next in line nine kills, and a service ace, while Meredith Eagan (North Andover, Mass.) added 11 points off nine kills and two aces.

GAME TWO: Saint Joseph's 3, Mitchell 0

In match two, the Monks needed just three sets to down the Mariners by set scores of 25-14, 25-10, and 25-19. The Monks hit over .200 in the two of three matches, as Copp and Erin Olson (Stoughton, Mass.) each swung into a team-best eight kills in the win. Jennelle Thompson (Farmington, N.H.) continued to lead the Monks' defense, hitting the floor for 11 digs total.

Nikki Gerald (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) led the Mariners with four kills, while Marissa Sweeney (Hudson, N.H.) and Ariana Carter (Central Falls, R.I.) registered three apiece.

Saint Joseph's returns to the court on Monday for a road game at Lesley at 8:00 PM.
