STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (13-12, 5-4 GNAC) blanked Norwich University (9-12, 1-7 GNAC), 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-23) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's volleyball action at the Harold Alfond Center on Wednesday evening.

After winning the first two sets, the Monks looked to put the Cadets away quickly in the third frame and held a 22-16 cushion before the visitors mounted a 7-2 run, which resulted in a 24-23 SJC lead. Following a timeout, Saint Joseph's received the serve and sophomore Kelsey Bickford (Somersworth, N.H.) put the match away with her game-high 13th kill of the night.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Bickford produced 13 kills on 43 attempts with five digs
  • Senior Jordynne Copp (Cumberland, Maine) added seven kills on 22 attempts with a pair of aces and four digs
  • Freshman Sophia Randall (Epping, N.H.) chipped in with six kills, a pair of aces, and six digs
  • Freshman Erin Olson (Stoughton, Mass.) contributed five kills and four block solos
  • Junior Sarah Dyer (Seabrook, N.H.) tallied 31 assists and six digs
  • Junior Jennelle Thompson (Farmington, N.H.) added 10 digs

LEADERS – NORWICH:

  • Freshman Kathryn Farnum (North Andover, Mass.) netted eight kills with a .368 attack rate, six assists, and 10 digs
  • Sophomores Monika Schneider (Brookline, N.H.) and Marissa Perrotti (Moultonborough, N.H.) notched six kills apiece
  • Sophomore Michele Zummo (Highland Mills, N.Y.) tallied six kills and eight digs
  • Junior Emily Oliver (Sagamore Hills, Ohio) posted 24 assists and eight digs

TEAM STATS:

Saint Joseph's held the lead in kills (34-32), assists (34-32), aces (6-4), and blocks (4-0) while Norwich recorded a 49-46 advantage in digs.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

With the win, Saint Joseph's improves to 5-8 in the history of the series with Norwich University and has now defeated the Cadets in three-consecutive meetings.

Saint Joseph's will host a tri-match Saturday facing Suffolk University at 1:00 PM and Framingham State University at 5:00 PM.
