Eagles Defeat Monks in 2021 Opener, 3-1

BANGOR, Maine – Husson University (1-0) defeated Saint Joseph's College (0-1), 3-1 (25-15, 20-25, 25-15, 25-20) in a non-conference women's volleyball match on Wednesday evening.

TEAM STATS:

The Eagles held an advantage in kills (50-29), attacks (152-124), attack percentage (.118 - .081), assists (25-17), and digs (92-49) while the Monks held an 8-0 lead in blocks and both squads belted eight service aces in their 2021 season opener.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Freshman Maggie Sylvester (Barrington, N.H.) led the Monks with six kills and added four digs and four total blocks (three solo)
  • Junior Hanna Holden (Stoughton, Mass.) notched five kills, 12 assists, three service aces, and eight digs
  • Senior Olivia Kent (Ellington, Conn.) added five kills and a pair of digs
  • Freshman Sierra Burns (Peyton, Colo.) led the team with 20 digs and posted a pair of aces
  • Senior Nicole Baron (Derry, N.H.) and Jordan Ingoldsby chipped in with three kills apiece

LEADERS – HUSSON:

  • Karimah Land led all players with 18 kills on 37 attempts with a .351 attack percentage
  • Cheyenne Young dealt 11 kills with no errors on 28 attempts for a .393 attack rate
  • Alyvia McIntyre registered a double-double with 18 assists and 22 digs
  • Adrienne Beatty added 16 digs
